Is This Really the Life I Want?

We all have those moments when we pause and ask ourselves, “Is this really the life I want?

It’s natural to get caught up in the grind—career pressures, societal expectations, personal ambitions—and wonder if we’re on the right track or if there’s more to life than the routine we follow. Whether it’s a job that stresses you out, a relationship that feels off, or simply the feeling of living for others instead of yourself, these moments of self-reflection are crucial.

It’s easy to get lost in the idea that “this is how things are supposed to be.” But just because we’ve chosen a path, doesn’t mean it’s the one that will lead us to fulfillment.

The truth is, you have the power to design your life.

The Weight of Staying in a Path That’s Not Right

Life Is Too Short to Stay Stuck. You might have chosen a career path, committed to a relationship, or stuck with a job because it was expected of you, or because it seemed like the practical choice at the time.

You Deserve More Than ‘Just Getting By’. Perhaps you’re constantly chasing goals that don’t excite you, or you’re feeling stressed from the demands of a job that doesn’t align with your values.

Your Well-being Affects Everything. Staying in something that doesn’t truly bring you joy can lead to burnout and regret. It’s not just about doing things for the sake of it—it’s about what fulfills you. Not every career move or relationship is right for everyone, and that’s okay.

How to Shift Towards the Life You Want

Aligning with your purpose means doing what resonates with who you are. It’s about having work that excites you, relationships that fulfill you, and experiences that leave you feeling alive.

  1. Get Clear on What You Truly Want. What makes me excited to wake up in the morning? Take a step back and reflect. What drains you? How do I feel about the work I’m doing right now? What kind of life would make you feel fulfilled?
  2. Take Small, Intentional Steps. Change doesn’t have to be drastic. Maybe it’s setting boundaries at work, having an honest conversation in your relationship, or dedicating more time to things you love. Decide and take one small action every day.
  3. Trust That You Have Choices. You’re not stuck. You have the power to shift, adapt, and redesign your life. What is it that I truly want to achieve or experience? Every small changes can lead to a more fulfilling path.

My Story:

A couple of years ago, I found myself in a very hierarchical and structured corporate environment—top-down decisions, limited freedom to explore or experiment, and a lack of space for personal growth. It became clear that this wasn’t the career or life I wanted to pursue. So, I made the tough decision to leave and embark on a new journey.

Through exploration and experimentation, I discovered a passion for building things, creating connections, and becoming part of the wellness and sustainability space. I realized I wanted to make a positive impact on both people’s physical and mental well-being.

Over the past few months, I’ve been reflecting, thinking, and praying about what’s next. Looking ahead to 2025, I’m contemplating whether I should go back to a more stable corporate role, or fully embrace being a multi-stream entrepreneur. The possibilities are endless—selling physical products, offering coaching services, and building a brand under the umbrella of wellness.

What excites me most is the freedom. The ability to spend more time with my family and watch my kids grow, play, and learn. Also, the time to support my aging parents has been invaluable. That’s the kind of life I want to create for myself—one of purpose, flexibility, and meaningful impact.

However, it’s a journey of discovery. I’m still figuring out how to optimize these different streams of income, but I know that the path forward is in my hands.

Is this the life I want? I’m not entirely sure yet, but I’m giving myself the space to experiment, stay curious, and watch how things unfold. I’m embracing the process of wondering and discovering, and I’m excited to see where this path leads.

The biggest lesson? You don’t have to have all the answers—just the willingness to explore and make choices that align with your values.

It’s okay to not have everything figured out—sometimes, the beauty is in the journey itself.

The Life You Want Starts Now

If you’re asking, Is this really the life I want?—listen to that voice. It’s guiding you toward something better. You don’t need to have all the answers today. You just need to take the first step.

Here are some practical steps you can start with:

  • Journal your thoughts: Take some time each day to reflect on your values and how they align with your current life. What needs to change?
  • Set goals based on your true desires: Think beyond your current job or relationship. What would an ideal life look like for you, and how can you start moving in that direction?
  • Talk to someone: If you’re unsure about what changes to make, seek out a coach or mentor who can help you find clarity.

Living authentically means choosing a life that aligns with your passions and values. It’s not about following a template—it’s about finding your own path. So, let go of the fear of the unknown and trust yourself to make the right decisions.
